A Pennant Bunting Tutorial
Welcome to, let's make a Pennant Bunting!
I love buntings and really like making them. Buntings announce anything you want, a season, party, birth, gathering, anything you can think of!
Here's a quick tutorial of my latest bunting using 2.5" squares of pretty floral fabric and a vintage bias binding.
You can make your pennants from any size square you like, I wanted to make a tiny bunting for Meredith.
What you'll need:
- Cotton Fabric cut into Squares (any size square will work)
- Bias or Regular Binding
- Scissors
- Ruler & Rotary Cutter
- Sewing Machine
- Iron & Ring Board
- Point Turner
Step 1) I cut 8, 2.5" squares using a ruler and rotary cutter. Again, this will work with any size square.
Step 2) Fold the square in half, diagonally, right sides together. Then sew down one side. Repeat this for all your squares.
Step 3) Trim off excess along the point.
Step 4) Turn right side out and use a point turner to push point point. Press.
Step 5) Take the excess fabric at the top of the pennant and fold into the inside of the pennant, press.
Step 6) Pin your triangles into the fold of your binding, I spaced mine .5" apart.
Step 7) All you have left to do is sew beginning at one end of the binding strip, thru all of your triangles to the end of your binding strip. Give it one more press and enjoy!
You did it! Your pennant bunting is ready to be displayed. Find the perfect spot to hang it – whether it's above your workspace, at a party, or in a child's bedroom. The possibilities are endless!
