Catching Up After Life’s Interruptions

Hello, friends and fellow needleworkers!

Life has a way of throwing curveballs, doesn’t it? These past three weeks have been a bit of a whirlwind for me, and unfortunately, I had to hit pause on my 52-Week Needlework Challenge. A bout of the flu knocked me off my feet, followed quickly by the joyful busyness of Thanksgiving preparations. It’s a reminder that while our creative passions are so fulfilling, sometimes we need to rest and recharge to return to them with fresh energy.

But even though I wasn’t able to stick to the weekly challenge as planned, I’m excited to share what I did manage to accomplish during this time. Let’s dive in!

A Swirling Star Doll Quilt

I love to do hand piecing and quilting, even when I feel lousy. This miniature quilt is a joy to work on and really manageable even in my low-energy moments. The patchwork came together beautifully, and the final quilt will soon be ready for Meredith the Doll to cozy up with.

An Advent Calendar Fit for a Grandson

Wow, making the pattern for this Advent Calendar, me being dyslexic and completely mathematically challenged was a feat! But I was determined 😆

Have you ever drawn your own pattern? For me the cloth dolls and their little dresses and things are so much easier than a cloth calendar!

Picking the fabrics and trims was the fun part, my inspiration was ribbon candy. Creating an Advent calendar was a lesson in combining functionality and whimsy. Each pocket is filled with either chocolates or teeny, tiny wooden ornaments. My grandson is loving it!

Hooded Cloak Pattern & Workshop

I’m over the moon to share that the Hooded Cloak Pattern and Workshop is finished! This pattern is designed for Meredith the Cloth Doll, but it’s also a great stand-alone project for your own creative spin.

I recorded a detailed workshop to share tips and techniques and show you how to put this Doll Cloak together.

Looking Ahead

Now that I’m feeling better and the Thanksgiving dust has settled, I’m ready to dive back into the 52-Week Needlework Challenge. I’ve got some catching up to do, and I can’t wait to share my progress with you. If you’ve also had a few bumps in the road recently, remember: creativity is about the journey, not perfection.

Thank you for sticking with me through thick and thin. Your support means the world, and I hope these updates inspire you to keep sewing, even when life gets a little hectic.

If you love DIY be sure to see out these posts. Check out my newest workshop too!

Happy stitching,
Jayne

Hi, I'm Jayne!

I help creatives achieve beautiful, heirloom needlework projects when they haven’t gotten great results in the past so they can stop worrying that they’re going to ruin a piece and start stitching and being proud of what they create.
