Are you ready for another Cloth Doll sewing project? Let’s make pantalettes for our beloved Meredith the Cloth Doll. Grab your needles, thread, and let’s get started!
What are Pantalettes?
Pantalettes are an essential piece of clothing for Meredith. They are delicate undergarments that add a touch of elegance and charm to her outfits. Pantalettes typically have a ruffled or lace trim at the bottom and are worn under dresses or skirts.
Materials You’ll Need
To create these adorable pantalettes for Meredith, gather the following materials:
- Lightweight Cotton Fabric – Choose a pretty fabric in a color that complements Meredith’s overall look.
- Lace Trim – Find a dainty lace trim that matches the style you envision for the pantalettes.
- Hand Sewing Needles – I use thin appliqué needles.
- Scissors – A sharp pair of scissors will help you cut precise shapes.
- Cotton Thread – Select a thread color that blends well with your fabric choice.
- Cotton Embroidery Floss or Thin Cotton Tape – This will be used in waist casing.
- Pins

Step 1) Print out pattern and use to trace and cut out 2.
Step 2) Hem and add lace to bottoms of each leg. Finger press a 1/8″ hem, turn over and pin lace to hem and top stitch down. Fold hem 1/8″ again and top stitch down, lace and hem will be beautifully finished.

This is difficult to explain! Be sure to watch the video tutorial to see clearly how to do this!
Step 2) With right sides together sew the front rise from crotch to waist. For the back rise measure down 1″ and mark with a pin then stitch from pin down to crotch.

Step 3) Finish either side of the back rise raw edges by folding each over 1/8″ and stitching.

Step 4) Make waist casing. Fold and finger press waist down 1/8″ and then fold again 1/4″ and pin. Sew casing making sure your stitches are right at the bottom of the second fold to maintain casing opening.

Step 5) Sew inseams. Starting at the crotch sew down to leg opening, repeat on other side.

Step 6) Thread length of floss, thin ribbon or cotton tape through casing. Give your pantalettes a final press with an iron to smooth out any wrinkles, and voila! You have created a beautiful pair of pantalettes for Meredith!
